INFORMATION

COP26 is the global climate change conference hosted in Glasgow, UK. BLACKPINK are United Nations 'Sustainable Development Goals' advocates. From November 1 to November 11 we will participate in daily activities. You will share your activities with these hashtags:

#ClimateActionInYourArea
#(Country)ForOurPlanet

For example, a UK Blink would use:

#ClimateActionInYourArea
#UKForOurPlanet

Check your local fanbase to see which hashtags you should be using. Let's show the UN that they were right to choose BLACKPINK as advocates!

PLEASE NOTE:
This webpage is in beta. More content will be added and more languages will be included over the next few days. Thank you for your patience!

ACTIVITIES
ECOSIA

WHERE:
HERE (BLACKPINK ver) and HERE (main page). You can also install the app on mobile devices, or add it to your browser on desktop.
WHAT:
Ecosia is a search engine that plants trees. Instead of using Google to make web searches, you can use Ecosia. It will even count how many trees you've contributed to planting!
HOW:
Use Ecosia to make your web searches. If you sign in to Ecosia it will keep track of your impact. You can screenshot this and share it on Twitter with the hashtags #ClimateActionInYourArea and #CountryForOurPlanet (change this to your specific country).

FOREST

WHERE:
HERE for the Firefox add-on. You can also install the app on mobile devices, which is the easiest way.
WHAT:
Forest is a productivity app. You earn virtual coins while you study or work, and then those virtual coins are used to plant real trees with Forest.
HOW:
Use Forest to help you study or work. You can screenshot this and share it on Twitter with the hashtags #ClimateActionInYourArea and #CountryForOurPlanet (change this to your specific country).

EMPTY YOUR INBOX

WHERE:
In your normal email inbox!
WHAT:
Every email you use requires storage space. Your inbox storage requires electricity - and electricity requires a source. A lot of electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels. These fossil fuels release harmful gasses into the atmosphere which increases global warming. By reducing your email inbox you can reduce your carbon footprint.
HOW:
Take before and after screenshots! Share the two screenshots on Twitter with the hashtags #ClimateActionInYourArea and #CountryForOurPlanet (change this to your specific country).

RAISE AWARENESS

WHERE:
Anywhere you talk to people!
WHAT:
By raising awareness of the importance of climate action, we can convince more people to join us in making small actions! Talk to your friends, family & colleagues about the actions you're taking to reduce your carbon footprint during COP26.
HOW:
Take a screenshot of you talking to a friend about it (with personal details blocked out, of course!) Share the screenshot on Twitter with the hashtags #ClimateActionInYourArea and #CountryForOurPlanet (change this to your specific country).

WALK OR CYCLE

WHERE:
Short journeys that you take, e.g. to school or a shop.
WHAT:
Going somewhere by car relies on the burning of fossil fuels. Traveling by bus is better - but walking or cycling is even better! Try walking or cycling somewhere instead of taking motor transport.
HOW:
Take a photo of the view while you walk/cycle! Share the photo on Twitter with the hashtags #ClimateActionInYourArea and #CountryForOurPlanet (change this to your specific country).

PLANT A SEED

WHERE:
In your garden, if you have one. Or in a pot in your windowsill!
WHAT:
Planting a tree or a flower helps our environment in many ways. You don't need a huge space to do this in - you can even do it on a windowsill! Even better: plant something you could eat one day. If you search for "seed sowing calendar [country]" you can find suggestions of which kind of flowers should be planted at this time of year.
HOW:
Take a photo while planting! Share the photo on Twitter with the hashtags #ClimateActionInYourArea and #CountryForOurPlanet (change this to your specific country).

CLEAN LITTER

WHERE:
Around your local area!
WHAT:
Grab a bin bag from the kitchen and get walking! Walk around your local area. You will spot litter everywhere! Collect the litter into your bin bag and dispose of it in an appropriate place. Litter can have a damaging impact on local wildlife and negatively affect the health of your local ecosystem.
HOW:
Take a photo of your litter haul! Share the photo on Twitter with the hashtags #ClimateActionInYourArea and #CountryForOurPlanet (change this to your specific country).

LOCAL ACTIONS

WHERE:
Around your local area!
WHAT:
Follow your local/country fanbase. There are many issues that affect your country. Work together with blinks in your country to tackle important issues in your area.
HOW:
Take a photo or screenshot of your actions! Share the image on Twitter with the hashtags #ClimateActionInYourArea and #CountryForOurPlanet (change this to your specific country).
