What is radio airplay?
  • Radio airplay means getting songs played on the radio and is often referred to as ‘radio plays’ or simply “spins”
  • Commercial radios are the most prominent, have larger audience and influence more than the "non commercial" with smaller market. When commercial radios start playing a song, it is more likely that the smaller ones will also follow.
  • There are two types of radio plays, Commercial Radio and Non-Commercial Radio

Why is radio requesting important?
  • Radio airplay makes up 30%-40% of Hot100.* US radio only
  • The more unique requests, the more chances that Radio Stations will play the song.
  • More radio play means more radio points, thus a higher spot on Hot 100.

REQUESTING

YOU CAN REQUEST BY:
  •   1. Requesting on Twitter by tagging the DJ or radio station.

  •   2. Requesting via web links, e.g. forms.

  •   3. Sending a text message to the DJ or station.

  •   4. Sending an email to the DJ or station.

  •   5. Calling in to the radio station directly.

IMPORTANT:
DJs do not wish to be spammed, and they are unlikely to play requests from people that they believe to be outside the range of their radio station. In order for your request to be taken seriously, DO NOT SPAM and as much as possible DO NOT COPY AND PASTE.

Notes:
Be polite and thankful - thank the DJ if they play the song.

Follow radio accounts for guidance on who you should prioritise. At the beginning of each comeback, this page will be updated with links to radio accounts for you to follow in different countries.

MOST REQUESTED LIVE

MRL is an interactive radio show that allows you to vote for the song you want to hear played. When played, it is sent to 150 radio stations. This allows the song to receive a large number of spins that count towards Billboard Hot 100.

  •   2. Request through Facebook comments.

  •   3. Request through Instagram comments.

As with other types of radio requesting, these most be unique and genuine requests. Do not spam the DJ. Be polite. Do not copy and paste your request.
